This Week in Library/Media Lit

This week at Greenwich School Library Media Center:
We are sharing our favorite books, authors, and series! All elementary students had the opportunity to share what they love to read by creating or decorating hearts which are now on display inside and around the Media Center. Students were asked to share what they love to read, regardless of print, format, or content.  Grades 1-2 decorated pre-cut hearts, while grades 3-5 made and printed hearts using MS Word.

Big favorites include: Geronimo Stilton, My Weird School, Harry Potter, Mo Willems, ESPN.com, Wendy Mass, Dan Gutman, Dav Pilkey, sports, dance, animals, and optical illusions.

This week in Media Literacy at Stewartsville Middle:
  • Sixth grade learned how practice effective searching in YouTube as we viewed and discussed marketing practices through SuperBowl commercials. (the most requested? Oreo!)
  • Seventh grade narrowed their topics for our History of the Internet project. The big areas of interest are social media and networking, commerce, and the general history of how the web came to be as we now know it.
  • Eighth grade completed writing mysteries based on the data we used in our MS Access activities. I look forward to reading their creative tales!
