Cool Tool: MakeBeliefsComix

MakeBeliefsComix is a free, easy to use, web based comic creator. Comics can be 2, 3 or 4 panels.  Students choose characters, settings, and props from a limited yet workable collection.  The text is up to them!  Text boxes can handle the characters and accents common to English, Spanish, or several other languages.

Class set up is easy: Paste a link to MakeBeliefsComix on your wiki or website page.  No accounts necessary (not even available). Tools are labeled and organized logically. Students can print or email the finished strip to themselves or you. Computers with Vista or Windows 7 can use the screen clip tool to capture the comic to save as an image file, or paste in a document.

MakeBeliefsComix is also a great source for printable comic templates.  The characters and scenes are already set, all that is needed is creative thinking and dialogue. This can be a great tool to help students practice new vocabulary, write creatively, demonstrate new knowledge, and explore a topic in a new way. For more ideas, visit 21 Ways to use in the Classroom.
